It's looking very likely that T-Mobile/Dngr-Sidekick will not be able to restore my Contacts list to the phone.

At first I panicked — I've had that same phone number the entire time I've had a cell phone, and T-Mobile had been able to import my Sprint Contacts list when I made the switch last year. Gah! Then I thought about how peaceful and cleansing it would be to start over from scratch. So many of those Sprint-era numbers are from people I don't talk to anymore and, more relevantly, don't want to talk to anymore. How nice it might be to wipe them from my life forever!

Then I realized that all THOSE numbers are actually safely stored on my SIM chip, and if I've lost anything, it's the numbers I've accrued over the past year or so. That's just awesome! NOT.
aceofkittens: (i'm too sexy for this icon)
There is apparently a T-Mobile outage, which has disabled my precious, precious Sidekick, lifeline to the Internet! My SIM chip is also affected, so I have lost my contact list. Woe! Hopefully, it will be fixed soon.

Anyway, [ profile] emmiepie cut my hair yesterday. She asked if I would mind if she straightened it. I said, sure, go ahead! I love it when stylists straighten my hair. It makes me look like Elrond! :D The double-takes were very satisfying (especially from [ profile] toastmantom) and I really had a great time 'on the other side.' But, like always, this morning my hair is already creeping back into curl and I am happy to let it do so. I used to want stick-straight hair, but I am happy now with my tangled wild mane (even if my mother isn't).

Well, on to an exciting day of furniture shopping hell!

I don't know whether it's the fact that my ever-dwindling attention span is now only able to keep up with Facebook/Twitter, or simply that my love affair with LJ is finally coming to an end. I just know that I really shouldn't have wasted the money on that paid account renewal.

Some notable stuff from May through July:
+ Rescued some adorable kittens
+ Got to go to the annual [ profile] toastmantom Memorial Day Weekend BBQ
- Got very ill at the annual [ profile] toastmantom Memorial Day Weekend BBQ
+ Visits to LA by [ profile] mzsa, [ profile] mittenz, [ profile] wyckhurst, and [ profile] eto_theipi
+ Went to the beach twice
+ The ants have gone away
+ Went to both a Rhett Miller concert and an Old 97's concert
+ Went to a great concert at the Hollywood Bowl
+ Went to Infected Mushroom and remembered to bring earplugs
- Inexplicable sudden total irrecoverable failure of my laptop's hard drive
- I am an idiot who does not make regular backups :(
- All my photos from 2008-2009 are now lost forever, along with all my music and all my writing
+ A friend gave me a replacement hard drive for free!!!!!
+ I still love my Sidekick
- It's having problems with the headset, so phone conversations have dwindled
+ Celebrated our 4th Chip-a-versary on July 19/20th!!!!
+ Chip seems to be doing really well
- Chip is misbehaving horribly every morning, clawing and biting me as early as 5 a.m. in his quest for food
+ Going to Vegas this weekend for [ profile] bigkgbguy's annual birthday party!!!

Well, that about sums it up.

Well, I went ahead and renewed my paid account. I feel like doing some polls later and I missed my userpics.

But now, the crap headset that came with my new phone has died, so I have to go and buy a new headset. Maybe this new one won't make me sound like I'm underwater inside a wind tunnel.

I'm drinking red wine. Some of you know why this is a BAD IDEA.

Daryl is here cooking us dinner!!!

We're watching the GNR videos. Axl used to be so young and hot. What happened?

P.S. I may be really drunk. And I would drunk dial all of you, BUT my phone is dead. It's in two pieces... again.

ETA: [ profile] toastmantom, this is for you:

PHONE GO BOOM AGAIN!!! See icon. Goddamnit! I should just give up on the frickin' flip phone already. :(
aceofkittens: (disconnected)
I got my broken phone fixed up again today. It is a flip-phone once again and it no longer turns itself off spontaneously. However, I think everyone is right, and that my next phone shouldn't be a flip-phone. Say what you will about my old brick-like phone, but I had it for like... 5 years. The flip phones just don't last very long, the way I use them.

Kind of like laptops. Though my current one has lasted (knock on wood) almost two years.

I'm too sleepy and Vegas-stupid to say anything interesting. Good night.

Vegas, baby, continued.

For the second year in a row, I've managed to screw up my taxes. I sent them off a month ago and the IRS politely returned them to me today. Oops. Like last year's mishap, it's a fairly minor thing, but next year, it may finally be time to give my taxes over to someone else to deal with.

My phone is fixed, so that's good. Not getting any texts for 3 days was irritating.

Not that these minor annoyances really hold much meaning after reading all day.

For some reason, my phone is not receiving any text messages. This is very sad.

Having a fabulous time otherwise.
aceofkittens: (bad mood)
Ok, I know it's lame and irrational, but I'm actually starting to get jealous of the new couch! Chip has stopped sleeping with me at night and just spends most of his awake and asleep time on that couch.

So now I'm competing with furniture for my cat's attention. Oh what a world! I was going to pile some books and clothes onto the couch to prevent Chip from sitting on it, but was told that this is "mean."

Oh, and my phone is broken. AGAIN!

Tally ho, I am in London.

Like a moron, I forgot the instruction booklet for my international phone, complete with activation code. So it's a very very very expensive useless brick. FECK!!!

But, anyway, I am in London! YAY!

My latest cell phone now looks just like the user pic above.

You know, say what you will about my old "brick" phone, but it lasted something like 4 years. This is my third flip phone in less than a year. :( And now I'll lose all of my ringtones forever.

I broke my cell phone — AGAIN!

Same as last time. (See user pic) It's still hanging on by a slim thread. For now.

Maybe I'm not meant for this whole "flip-phone" thing. :(

Alas, my phone is dead. Can [ profile] aceofkittens survive for eight whole days without a cell phone?!!! GIP!

There's a chance that they won't be able to extract the sim chip, in which case, I'm going to have to harvest a whole lotta numbers from people...

No matter how hard I tried to fix it and dry it off, the cell phone refused to recover from the cat/tea incident. Well, it was long past time, really. I reluctantly oozed down to the Sprint store and joined the 21st century.

My new baby! )

For those who were familiar with my old brick ("I love my brick!" --Father Jack Hackett), you'll understand how significant this is. And you must call me immediately and send cigars. :)

The best part is that I managed to find a phone with a rebate, so the ultimate cost of the phone to me is $8.24. I think I can live with that.

For a while, the cat was leaving me alone. Perhaps she sensed that I've been really ill... perhaps she got bored... perhaps her actual owner has been sleeping with treats under her pillow. Whatever the reason for it, I was relieved at first. Then I kind of got sad about it, then I was miffed, then I realized that at least I was getting some sleep and not getting woken up at 4:30 a.m. But a little while later, I found myself chasing the beast, saying, "Baby, please come back!" ;)

Anyway, she came back tonight, all right, all loving and full of wet nose kisses, and then she purposefully tipped over my half-full cup of tea onto my laptop, my cell phone, and a stack of Werewolf books.

The casualty seems to be the cell phone, which has been on its last legs for years. But I'm still really annoyed and not inclined to be very nice at all.
