aceofkittens: (oh god ted)
In lieu of actual content, here is a snippet from last night's IM chat with [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom.

[livejournal.com profile] aceofkittens: Are you my neighbor on my farm?
[livejournal.com profile] toastmantom: I sent you a request
[livejournal.com profile] aceofkittens: Hello! I will visit your farm
[livejournal.com profile] toastmantom: And I am on yours!
Pooping, of course.
Your farm is big and has nuclear chickens. I raked some leaves.
[livejournal.com profile] aceofkittens: I had to send you a goat.
[livejournal.com profile] toastmantom: This is my favorite conversation ever.

Ummm...

I'm drinking red wine. Some of you know why this is a BAD IDEA.

Daryl is here cooking us dinner!!!

We're watching the GNR videos. Axl used to be so young and hot. What happened?

P.S. I may be really drunk. And I would drunk dial all of you, BUT my phone is dead. It's in two pieces... again.

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom, this is for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsJDK9MCCYs

Ok go

aceofkittens: (me and chip)
I realized that it's been a week since I posted, but I feel like I don't really have much to say right now. I'm just chugging along and it's fine. It's a brief lull before the madness begins. I realized today that I am already solidly booked every weekend from next weekend until December. This coming weekend should be a time to batten down the hatches and prepare for the whirlwind. I still have Burning Man crap lying around everywhere, for crying out loud. I need to sort through all the clothes I don't wear. I need to do a lot of things.

I will probably do none of them.

Last weekend was awesome, though. [livejournal.com profile] takeitez and [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom came down and we had some fun. Where to begin? It was like cramming a SF weekend into LA. First, [livejournal.com profile] invisiblebf and [livejournal.com profile] takeitez went to LACMA and the La Brea Tar Pits on Friday while I was at work. Later that night, we went to a friend's poetry reading at a youth hostel in Santa Monica (to hear such gems as "Cockblocking C***" from others performing — though my actual friend is a good poet) and to add to the misery, I had to pee the whole time. It began to rain and we escaped to drown our sorrows at my favorite British pub a few blocks away. The next day, Toasty arrived and over the next two days, we went to The Getty, LA Decompression, Champagne Madness, and another friend's acoustic guitar performance, not necessarily in that order. Good job! I made dinner and we ate a lot of cheese. We drank — a lot. We ate more cheese. We played the Story Game (the television vomited fire!) Many in-jokes were created. Good times!

Last, but not least, tomorrow, my mom is leaving on a trip to China for two weeks and she's completely freaked out about it. So that about sums it all up!

Irritants

Jun. 9th, 2007 08:09 am
aceofkittens: (ah go on)
Lately, I've been mulling over what little behaviors in other people I find annoying and why. I would have to say that my #1 annoyance is when people don't seem to retain the information I have given them (so it's a real blessing that I dropped out of academe or I would be irritated 24/7). :) Whether it's an inability to follow a story I'm telling, or failing to remember the relationship between key players, or just asking me repeatedly what it is I am doing Friday night, when people do this, I find myself feeling extremely irritated.

Why? One of the reasons is that I am blessed with a memory like a steel jaw trap for certain things and thus I can't imagine that other people might not be as (anal) retentive. Thus, I perceive their inattention or la-la-la flakiness as a failure to listen to me, which triggers some other hot buttons for me.

This is not a killing offense, or else [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom would have been dead years ago. :) However, I often find myself somewhat snarly over this sort of thing.

And what about you? Tell me all your secret irritants...

Pimp my ho

I am really quite excited by the art meme. I have a lot of ideas and I can't wait to send people cool stuff! :)

So I'd like to pimp out [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom — run, do not walk, to sign up for his art meme right here! You won't regret it. I gar-on-tee it.

In other news, I have been on a moth-killing spree ("27 in one blow") and most of the Burning Man stuff is finally sorted out, so the house is almost clean enough to bust out the DDR pads and start training for my inevitable battle with [livejournal.com profile] mr_chip and [livejournal.com profile] hint.

Speaking of DDR, have I mentioned that at Burning Man, I played Dance Dance Immolation? :) Well, I did. And it was so awesome!

Proof! )
aceofkittens: (battle!)
Nothing is more squicky and gross than having your home invaded by insects. Today I came home and there were more moths fluttering in the kitchen. I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom as I ambled around and the conversation went as follows:

[livejournal.com profile] toastmantom: Well, I should probably go, I am having dinner with Cat.
[livejournal.com profile] aceofkittens: EEEYAAAARRGHHAAAAA! *ear-splitting shriek*

As I had reached for some rice cakes, I saw that moths were doing it on top of the rice cakes. Which were on top of my cabinet of baking supplies. Hmm, I thought, could they be in my cabinet of baking supplies?

Why, yes, yes they were. Good-bye, baking supplies. Hello, impenetrable tupperware bins.

*shudder*
aceofkittens: (cheap vodka)
I haven't updated lately because I haven't had much I've felt like talking about.

However, I've been living it up this weekend. First, I went to a restaurant with a great view. That was Friday night. Today, I saw the new opera Grendel and I am still trying to decide if I liked it or not. It was certainly a grand spectacle. Then I had dinner at another 5-star restaurant and I'm pretty sure I did like that. Boy, if I had a million dollars, I'd spend it all.

Also, I went to [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom's crazy BBQ last weekend. Yay!

Also, I have a new car. Yay!

Also, I'm thinking of cracking open that very special bottle of Night Train Express to get back to my typical lowbrow life.

Frenzied

It's been a long and exhausting and frenzied week. I've hardly been able to keep up with my RL, much less LJ. :(

But, first things first:
Happy birthday to my beloved [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom! At 11:45, I plan to make out with a pillow imagining it's him, then instantly forget all about it.

Because I'm pretty grumpy, I made three new icons. Here they are.

Yup, I am all about the snarly cats.

I guess that's all for now.

Melting

aceofkittens: (bad mood)
So, you can pretty much assume that every post from now on will be about the cat. ;)

Meanwhile, it is so blazing hot, I can't stand it. I've got a Blizzard fan and it's not enough. I'm melting. Chip is melting. This heat wave is insane. I've got a huge list of things I have to do and I've been up since 6 a.m. to try and get everything done. Sadly, all I have done today is give Chip numerous spongebaths with a wet washcloth. He loves it (as [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom said, "Who wouldn't!"), but now it's almost 2 p.m. and I have accomplished nothing.

Basically, I just need to haul my ass to Costco, spend the $50 on a window A/C unit, and be done with it.
aceofkittens: (hmm)
I'm still gloating thinking about the funny thing I said last night. Here it is:

[livejournal.com profile] aceofkittens: Did you see? [livejournal.com profile] fillyjonk gave me a paid account. Now I can have my userpics again!
[livejournal.com profile] toastmantom: I saw, but I just don't get the paid account thing. I don't think I'd really use any of it.
[livejournal.com profile] aceofkittens: But, userpics! Userpics!!
[livejournal.com profile] toastmantom: What about them?
[livejournal.com profile] aceofkittens: Userpics... are like the ringtones of LJ!
[livejournal.com profile] toastmantom: (*heavy sarcasm*) Wow, that was deep.
[livejournal.com profile] aceofkittens: (*full of own wit*) Wasn't it though!!

They don't call me clever Jake for nothing! Wait.. oh, never mind.
aceofkittens: (vegas)
I'll also never come visit [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom again for this same reason --

As of yesterday, I have a Gamecube and my very own copy of Animal Crossing!

Huzzah!

Man, it's a lot harder when you have to build your town up from nothing. I had it easy, living off the fat of the land in [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom's town (Detroit). But I think I can meet this latest challenge as I turn my small village into a vast metropolis filled with kooky animals.

Now, for some Animal Crossing icons...
aceofkittens: (Default)
(Only [livejournal.com profile] toastmantom will get that, but I am all about the in-jokes for one person's benefit.)

****

Rambling Rover... )

I guess I should drive over to help out some more with the new place. Other people will be hauling around furniture, though, and I kind of feel like waiting til that's over and done with.

I'm going to do one of those massive entries where I post about everything you ever wanted to know about what I've done lately (but were too afraid to ask).

Today's accomplishments:

No more geocaching inside my mouth! )

Also, I am a computer genius! )

And before that...

There's no bench there. )

And before that...

Drink! )

Having now abused the LJ-CUT in new and unusual ways, I bid you all good night.
aceofkittens: (Default)
Today I went geocaching with my friend T. He's been trying to get me interested in this for a while, the fact that he got major poison oak doing this didn't really make me all too excited about it. But, hey, it was a gorgeous day, and it seemed like it would be a fun thing to do.

At first, it was all so simple... )

I fought the law and... )

Jack and Jill went up the hill... )

The funniest bit was really last night at dinner when we were discussing this as a possibility, and I said, "You know, Wil Wheaton geocaches!" and T. got this shamefaced look and said, "Yeah, I know, I... found out about it from his website."

GEEKS! :)
