I feel like I should update, but everything I want to really update about would take so much effort - taking pics, uploading pics, etc.!

It's very annoying: my newly dyed hair barely lasted a week. I don't know if it was being in the desert or the NoRinse shampoo, or what, but it's faded almost completely. Dyeing it again seems like a lot of effort. Cutting it seems like a lot of effort.

Everything seems like too much effort right now, have you noticed?

Yeah.

Last week, before I fell fully into this massive funk I am in at the moment, I met [livejournal.com profile] mango_king in person! He was in town to visit relatives and we hooked up in Santa Monica for dinner and drinks. And drinks. And drinks. He and Roberto were absolutely adorable and I'm not just saying that because they gave me candy and a cute stuffed animal (Chip's new gf Prudence - I have to take pictures of them together still!). They're awesome, period!

It was such a wonderful evening of drinking sangria at one of my favorite restaurants and making plans for future Vegas debauchery. We talked about politics & religion, ogled the waiters, and did I mention the sangria? ♥

I'm hoping they'll come back soon.

I think the vodka needs to flow! I have to make new infusions. :) I'm thinking I'll probably try to come up in 2 weeks.

Bright colored hair dyes are all semi-permanent, & anything in the red/purple specturm fades super fast. I hope you got a picture!

Not really a good picture that shows how bright it was that first, uh, day. But I just redyed it, so I'll take some photos tomorrow. :)

Yes, agreed on the above statement concerning red-type dyes. It sucks. I've learned not to wash mine as often, and to use this stuff that looks like ketchup when I DO wash it, which is supposed to make it last longer. It's high maintenance.

And I MUST....seriously MUST see pictures of Chip and Prudence. I can hardly wait!!

I went through so many products that claim to make reds last, before finally settling on my current set. I use the Wella Color Preserve shampoo/conditioner for colored hair (on my Special Effects reds hair), and it's fantastic! It's the stuff in the super red bottles. I also use John Frieda's color sealer stuff for reds. Combined, it's made such a huge difference in how often I have to touch up my color. I am a daily washer.

What's the stuff you're using? Is it any good? I'd love to see how far I can take this. :)

Hi. :-)

I'm using John Frieda's Color Glaze. Radian Red, I think it's called? I use Redken's shampoo for colored hair. It's 2 in the morning, so I can't even remember what it's called. At any rate, it does seem to be helping. The glaze stuff though, I can tell that it does a pretty visible job in keeping the red fresh.

I tried the new Clairol glaze, but I wasn't as impressed with it. It's more expensive, and you only get one use out of it (I can get several uses out of the John Frieda stuff, but be warned, it looks like ketchup. My shower could be used as the set in a slasher movie after I've used it.)

What's the color sealer that you're talking about? I may have to look into that. I also use his Sheer Blonde Spotlight Glosser when I straighten my hair. I was blonde for years, so I've used it for a long time. And I don't think it necessarily "adds" any blonde, but it makes your hair look super shiny and it smells fresh and good. :-)

This was such an experiment for me & I was prepared to hack off the bits which I've dyed... I'm happy to play around with it for now and they seem to be taking it well at work, but damn, it IS high maintenance. :)

The color on my roots completely faded out there, and they were just yellow by the time I got home. It was ridiculous. I believe it was a mixture of sunblock and sun that faded my hair. I suspect that the No Rinse also did you wrong. The reds only last if you use products for colored hair.

For easy color enhancing, just mix some color in with your conditioner and put it on that way. In the shower even, just after shampooing, and before shaving (or whatever else takes a lot of time). It's of course not as much lift as a full on coloring, but it's surprising how well it works.

It's crazy! I had no idea. The bottle claimed it would last for at least 24 shampoos. This was more like... 4 shampoos. I just redyed it tonight, so we'll see how long it lasts. I also probably should have bought something better than closeout 1/2 price Clairol crap. :)

I once put red dye in my hair and it didn't take.
