Blow, blow, thou winter wind...

My mom is in the midst of having the kitchen remodeled, so there are contractors and workmen stomping all over the house and the whole place smells like fresh paint and varnish. As a result, her cats are very traumatized and mostly hiding in the closet or under the blankets on her bed. She showed me the presents she plans to give them when this unbearable ordeal is over, so of course I then had to go to four different Walgreens stores in order to buy Chip an identical incredibly adorable and cute cat bed:

He is ignoring it, of course. :)

A cat, sleeping in a cat. That's either symbolic of cannibalism or some deep metaphysical statement.

I know... perhaps Chip's refusal to acknowledge this present is testament to the fact that, just like Henri (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0M7ibPk37_U), although his thumbs are not opposable, still, he opposes everything. :(

Can you be sneaky and stick it where he normally sleeps and strew it with catnip to perhaps tempt him to at least try it?

My kitty would probably attack it thinking its space was being invaded.

It is very cute.

He doesn't really care much about catnip. :( I tried it already...

I know my mom's cats will be sleeping on those cat beds within minutes, but my cat, oh no, he wants to sleep inside my luggage. ;)

Awwww, now I am filled with ennui!

You could try to put some clothing of yours in a cosy disarray on top of it and see if that tempts him to try it out? If there's discarded clothing in any of our chairs, that's where our cats will settle themselves down. :)

Ah, but, uh, there is so much discarded clothing all over the rest of the house already... He won't be able to tell where he should go! <.< >.>

Hmmm... *giggle*

Okay, so how if you line the new cat bed with your favourite sweater, kick away all the discarded clothes in a five-foot radius and put up blinking arrows (and a piece of chocolate cake)? :P
