"Get used to disappointment..."

There's nothing more pathetic than waiting endlessly for a phone call that never comes. But, of course, Rhett Miller said it best: If that phone don't ring one more time/I'm going to lose what's left of my mind...

I know it's stupid to hope it will still ring. It won't.

In other news, the building inspector from the Housing Authority came by yesterday to check out the apartment building. I'm not sure exactly why -- I know the landlord's trying to unload the place or else take out a second mortgage, but it may be one of those "once every few years" things. In any case, the inspector went into the bathroom and noticed the mold. Evidently, he then tapped the wall to test it for "soundness," and that is why there's now a giant hole in the wall of my bathroom. It crumpled under the gentle kick, sending plaster flying. Maybe this means my broken window will finally get fixed.

How did you thank the inspector-saboteur? There's no place I'd least like to have a gaping hole in my house than the bathroom.

The LA Natural History Museum still hasn't answered me about the crows. Not that I doubt that you are seeing unusual numbers of crows--I just want to find out if there are more in the area this year, of if thy're just flocking around you :)

Meh...

Now next time someone tells you that you don't know your head from a hole in the wall, you can use visual aids to prove them right.

I heard, but did not see, a crow this morning. Captain Tripps is heading northward...
