Weekend Update

This is going to be one of those boring ramble-a-thons.
The weekend is technically over, though actually I am not sure. The clock on Crunchy II (like most of Crunchy II) is whacked. At one point, it was lagging about 45 minutes, now it suddenly has sped up and is fast. Oh, well, not really important.
Crunchy II is rapidly on the way out. Aside from the never-ending issues with the memory leaks, it's now spontaneously shutting itself off and seems to be having power cord/battery issues as well. As my friend once noted, "AoK, you kill more computers than anyone else I know." The thing is, I ride those puppies hard and put them away wet. It doesn't change the fact that I'm limping along on a computer that just isn't fast enough to do even what little I ask of it. Oh well. Not like I have the money for anything frivolous.
Of course, not having any money was exactly why I threw a gigantic party (with a co-hostess) at the co-hostess' place. This was the Pukatorium to end all Pukatoriums. I believe that we consumed 3 gallons of vodka; maybe more. I baked meat pies and made all kinds of other food. It was really great. I didn't get sick, despite drinking a lot. However, I did do some things I'm kind of embarassed about. The trouble is, I reach a point while drinking where I become very suggestible. I don't know who it was exactly who told me to take my shirt off... ;) Anyway, I think the party was a great success. If you missed it, you missed the social event of the year! :)
Saturday was kind of an oddly disjointed day. I spent the night at the party pad, and it was a while before we left the next morning. There was lots of cleaning of puke to do! :) Then, a friend who had come to the party was supposed to fly out to the East Coast, but due to the snow storm, his flight (and most others) was canceled. So the remainder of the day was spent sort of hanging around and recovering from the excesses of the night before. It's not that I was hung over, but I was very spacy. I tried to do work stuff and just couldn't concentrate on anything. Eventually, after dropping my friend off at the airport, I went over to the East Bay with
aerinys and we went to Woom. Despite some minor setbacks, overall I had a good time.
There are many good moments which linger in my memory. But I think that my ultimate favorite moment at Woom had to be when I suddenly realized that the really cool person I was talking to was someone whose LJ I had been reading on and off for a few months (via a weird chain of LJ friend lists from several directions in my life). Having recently stalked
kingcadillac, I now will stalk this person next. LJ -- bringing people and their stalkers together. Thank you, LJ.
I got home at 7:30 a.m. and promptly went to sleep. However, no rest for the wicked. I got up at about 10, and fucked around online. Then I got dressed up and went back to Dickens Fair. I was actually just going to go in to do a bit of shopping, since this weekend was my last chance to go, and there are a few things sold there that would make good gifts. But I ended up helping out a bit, because they were swamped.
This has been the season for me getting compliments at Dickens Fair. It feeds my ego from all directions -- as an actor (today, two people from England asked me where exactly I was from in England) and as a bundle of insecurity (all these people telling me how pretty I look in my Victorian finery). Aside from all that, I love the Christmas ornament feel of the fair. I love the way it smells -- different sections of it have different smells; all of them great. On the other hand, just like during my recent trip to Disneyland, I felt that some of the magic was gone for me. All of the shows that I managed to catch seemed a little stale/flat to me, a little over the top with how onanistic the subject matter has become. Eh, I'm probably just jealous I'm not in one of those shows.
Anyway... I've camped out here for long enough.
