After reading a rousing endorsement in [livejournal.com profile] iamfourninjas' LJ for it, I finally got off my ass earlier tonight and purchased a Furminator for Chip.

Wow, that thing really works!!!

Neat! Perhaps I'll get one for neighbor kitty, so it's not as bad when she comes here and rolls all over our couch and blankets. After winter, I guess, as she needs all the fur she can get when it's cold.

I still think you should kidnap that kitty.

I had been hesitating to get one for my cats, but I'm too afraid that being the OCD freak that I am, I could NEVER stop furminating them. until the moment I find myself with two naked cats.

In this morning's Furminating session, Chip was shedding a lot less... I think it takes off the fur that's already starting to shed off, but leaves the healthy shiny fur in place. Buuuut... I'll let you know if Chip is totally bald by the end of the weekend. :)

I don't know if he'd give you the opportunity to do anything on the computer if that were the case, you know, male ego and all.

really? I totally need one then. did I tell you we just adopted ANOTHER cat? How many before you become freaky cat people? I once had a 2 cat rule, but maybe it's 2 cats per person?

I think it's totally 2/person. Actually, the algorithm about cat ownership can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVOFmu2ZIqI

Chip likes it more than his bristle brush and less than his flea comb.

That's amazing. Gunner sheds a lot of course but I wouldn't want to remove any of his fur coming into winter as he is an outside pussycat.

I think the Furminator only removes the fur that's already in the process of shedding off. So it won't diminish Gunner's warm coat.

Ok, that assumes the cat allows brushing. Mel only suffers combing when she gets especially matted, & Toulouse is too easily distracted to be brushed. Do I just have ADD cats or what?

Chip enjoys being fleacombed, but tends to walk away (in a hurry) from brushing sessions. So I was dubious about the Furminator, especially because it's really pretty sharp and Chip has sensitive skin. But, so far, so good...

I'm really amazed at how well it's working. I've pulled a small cat's worth of fur off Chip in just about 10 minutes of Furminating.

I think I need one of these things for Sunny. About every 3-6 months he has an allergic reaction that causes all of his undercoat to fall out and it's miserable trying to keep the place clean. :(

It's actually for dogs and cats. You should get one!

I bought it at a store called Centinela Pet & Feed. The big chains like Petco and Petsmart don't seem to carry it. You may have to buy it online! It was like $30.
