Ok, I know it's lame and irrational, but I'm actually starting to get jealous of the new couch! Chip has stopped sleeping with me at night and just spends most of his awake and asleep time on that couch.

So now I'm competing with furniture for my cat's attention. Oh what a world! I was going to pile some books and clothes onto the couch to prevent Chip from sitting on it, but was told that this is "mean."

*Sigh*

Oh, and my phone is broken. AGAIN!

Well, his fur is certainly clinging to it... :)

You could piss on it. That works when cats want humans not to use something.

Or just wait. Cats are fickle, & he'll get bored w/his new toy, wear it out, & then you'll be the new toy again. Tiny little memory in the fuzzball brain!

I just want to know, how did he KNOW that is "his" new couch? How?! :)

He's testing you and no doubt blogging about it gleefully to all of his feline friends. You just have to love their fickleness!

I wish the bloody furry radiator which sleeps with me would go sleep on the couch. But if I bought a couch, the dog (being perverse) would ignore it unless I was on it as well.

Maybe you could try and look a little more couch-like and he'll gravitate over to you.

Did I tell you he SLAPPED me when I removed him from the couch and tried to put him into bed with me?!! :)

Well, that sounds quite reasonable to me.

He's just working on assimilating it. Once it's completely covered with cat hair his work will be done & he'll be yours again.

You know, he is well on his way to assimilating it. :) I've put a throw blanket over it as it was turning white. :)

I'm sure if you cover yourself in new and interesting fabric, lie in the middle of the floor, and lay perfectly still for hours, he'll eventually come and sit on you, as well. But then again, so will I.

No, you'll be sitting in the middle of the kitchen, humming! :)

The answer seems obvious to me. You must spend more time on the new couch wiht him so he can associate you with it and you can get your snuggle time.

Except that he won't stay with ME on the new couch. :P He will snuggle with his gay lover, but not with ME! :)
