The week in summary

Last week proved to be a very long one and I kept meaning to update and never did. I had lots happen and yet no motivation whatsoever to blog about it. I'll try to do a summary. With 2 photos.
Sunday, 8/5/07:
invisiblebf and I drove down to LA with Chip. I gave Chip half a valium to help with his trip anxiety and it worked! He didn't puke, soil himself, foam at the mouth, nor get terribly agitated! Hooray! For the last few hours, he just snuggled peacefully in my arms, which was so nice. Thank you, valium! :) It's great to have my boys home.
Monday, 8/6/07: I went to work, and it was hard.
invisiblebf and I bought an air conditioner. Later that evening,
bettyscout came up from San Diego and stayed with us, and we walked to dinner at Tender Greens in Culver City and then the wine bar, Bottle Rock, also in Culver City, where much delicious wine was consumed. I am not a big wine drinker, but it was nice. Chip made sweet love to
bettyscout's shoes.

"OMG, shoes!"
Tuesday, 8/7/07: At work, my department was invited to an impromptu happy hour by another department. I had been planning to do my giant mound of laundry that night, but my uber-boss stopped by my desk and strongly suggested I should come to happy hour. I reluctantly agreed. As I was making my way to the bar, my car's left front tire blew out as I was getting off the freeway. I was able to limp to a gas station and called AAA to get them to change the tire. It proved to be that the right front tire was also bald and the spare 'donut' was pretty flat. I met up with
invisiblebf (who had stealthily done my laundry! He is a saint!) at Costco to get new tires right away, but they didn't have my tires in stock, so we left and went home instead of the happy hour.

What the flat looked like.
Wednesday, 8/8/07: I got the tires replaced and the alignment repaired to the tune of $370. Everyone was really surprised that I had bailed on happy hour, so I had to tell the "tire blew out as I was getting off the freeway" story 1,000,000 times. Since I got to work really late, I ended up staying til 9 p.m. Then,
veevi came over for Thai food and we talked about Burning Man. Later on, there was an earthquake right as I was getting to bed, but I didn't feel like getting up to post about it.
Thursday, 8/9/07:
invisiblebf went to San Diego until Friday and I went to work. In the evening, I had dinner with my cousin (who moved out August 1, in case I didn't mention this). Dinner was nice. We were supposed to also see a movie, but she canceled in order to meet up with someone else, and I was relieved, as I was exhausted. I came home and played online for a while.
Friday, 8/10/07: Lather, rinse, repeat. They catered in Italian food at work and I brought home a huge bag of bread.
Saturday, 8/11/07: I helped
invisiblebf get ready for his trip until he left at 3p.m. and then I went and got
moof and we went around LA and had some fun. First, I took
moof to Venice Beach, where we spent a long time trying to find parking. Once we parked by the canals, we walked around, failing to find the infamous Venice Duck Swarm, but slowly getting rid of the huge bag of bread. We looked at Venice Beach freaks, I rescued a crab from some fishermen at the water line, and then we walked back to the car and went on to have dinner at Tender Greens. After a 30 minute wait for coffee, we didn't go see Stardust. Instead, we went back to my house, and
moof spent the next 4 hours optimizing my laptop. It now works like it has never worked before.
moof is amazing! We drank some of my new Lucid Absinthe and then I took him back to his brother's house.
Today, 8/12/07: Though I stayed up super late, I woke up super early. Dave and Katya are supposedly coming between 9:30 and 10 so we can go Burning Man fabric shopping in the garment district.

Date: 2007-08-12 09:34 pm (UTC)I may have to try the valium trick, next time I have to transport my felines (which will hopefully be when we move two hours away.) General has this really annoying habit of peeing in the kitty carrier, and then sticking his paw through the slats to flick it on me as I drive. It's like he's saying "look at what you made me DO!" *flick flick flick*
What is it with cats and shoes?? Mine love them, too! Especially Oreo. She actually likes to lick my shoes.
