This is how it works...

What's going on with me lately? I know you've been wondering...
Work: Extremely busy and hectic. I'm swamped, and this week is especially hectic, because I'm taking Friday off to go to
invisiblebf's graduation, so I've got to cram in 5 days of work into 4 days. I am happy with what I've been working on lately, so it's not a chore to stay late, but it's still very tiring. I don't tend to get anything done at home when I don't crawl in til after 8 p.m. :( Also, one of my friends quit and her last day is Friday. That makes me sad.
Snails: The plants in the tank both died (not because the snails ate them, but because of a total lack of natural light) and I got some new plants. I also got a skull and crossbones to go with the pirate ship. But the snails are taking over. First, the HR girls gave me the rest of the snails from their work tank. Then, one of them took the fish home and gave me the work tank (so now I have a second 1.5 gallon tank that is still empty for now). Then, the same girl was cleaning her tank at home and was going to kill all the snails — but couldn't do it because of me, so she brought them to me in a tupperware. I feel happy that I affected someone like that — cruelty free fish keeping! — but now I have 100+ snails. They are cute, though. Just like Shamu.
My unique style: Yeah, so about two weeks ago, I had this horrible moment at work. I've been wearing nothing but my Rite Aid hippie skirts and bought a new one, since I was getting kind of sick of wearing the same stuff over and over again. In the elevator on the way into the office, I ran into my co-worker - a nice older lady, who always comments on my "style" and how unique it is. She apparently liked my new skirt, because she started talking about my style again. "You're so different than anyone else in LA... you have this totally unique style!" she said, "Everyone else in LA tries to look the same, but you... you just don't care! Yeah, it's so great that you don't care at all what is hip or trendy and just wear what you do... it's just totally you!" I know she thought she was complimenting me, so I didn't have the heart to tell her that a) I was extremely insulted and b) I've been wearing these hippie skirts because I can't fit into any of my pants right now. I then immediately went home and began a Master Cleanse, which I promptly failed out of a week later. I guess it's back to my "unique" style of shapeless burlap sacks.
Exercise: Yes, I know. It would be better if I could motivate myself to hit the gym, but I can't get up early enough to go and at night, I'm too tired to do anything but sit on the couch playing Dynomite and Pop & Drop.
Chip: We weighed Chip and discovered he might have to go on a diet. He has been getting plenty of exercise between the peacock feather and the scratchy post (so strong!) and the paper bags, but now we have to reduce his caloric intake. Chip definitely disapproves of this. He is still the best cat ever, despite being Bitey McScratchy every morning in his quest for some food that isn't crap. Nom nom nom.
Sad cat news: Our family cat Vassilissa is very very sick. :( She's not going to make it — it's only a matter of time. I don't want to get into it right now, but it's been on my mind every day. My mom's going to London for 10 days and I hope Vassilissa is still around when she comes back.
Well, that's probably more than enough: tl;dr... Over and out.

Date: 2008-05-07 12:41 pm (UTC)a) more excercise (which Chip already gets, obvs)
b) more competition for food -- which, luckily has not resulted in the usual gorging behavior.
re: Vassilissa - I'm sorry :(

Date: 2008-05-07 02:17 pm (UTC)And IMO staying on MC for a week is hardly a fail. I feel good when I can stay on it for even a few days (and it seems to help even then.)
sad about the family kitty :(
move home soon. that is all. oh, and kreplach.

Date: 2008-05-07 02:52 pm (UTC)But this isn't the first time it's happened, not by a long shot. She gets all excited by clothes she perceives as "very Berkeley," evidently. :) She's a nice lady, just a little clueless.
Thanks for the thoughts and the kreplach! Aieee...

Date: 2008-05-07 04:06 pm (UTC)Can you combine Chipercise and Irinaercise? You could do Chip deadlifts & Chip curls.
I am very sorry about your kitty. Hugs!

Date: 2008-05-07 05:19 pm (UTC)This reminds me though, I totally forgot to tell you - the other day, I saw a bunch of Hispanic-looking (Latino? Chicano?) gentlemen standing on the corner by the storage facility... all wearing those pointy hats that you got into so much trouble wearing.
As for Chip-curling... you mean like this? :)

Date: 2008-05-07 04:17 pm (UTC)I am sorry to hear about your mom's kitty. When my Dazzle kitty (who was in the care of my parents) died year before last, I was so hoping he could make it one more week until I got home. I do hope that V makes it for your mom.
That sounds like an awesome compliment...what are you talkin' about! :-P Don't you know that your unique style is the envy of everyone? And hey, your style must be all right. At least you HAVE a boyfriend, even if he is invisible.
Poor Chip. General has actually LOST weight, although I don't know how. He and Sabrina weigh almost the same now. Or maybe she's gained..
Regardless, good to hear from you!

Date: 2008-05-07 05:22 pm (UTC)I hope V makes it too, because my mom won't ever forgive herself for going on the trip otherwise. :( It's very sad, all of it. I know I'll write a bigger post later.

And poor Chip! On a diet?, with a name like that? You just know it's not going to work. I could get Lambi to come over and chase him for you except that she doesn't chase cats....and that Chip is much bigger than she is.....

Date: 2008-05-07 05:23 pm (UTC)Chip would eat Lambi in stew! :)

Date: 2008-05-07 04:53 pm (UTC)As for your overwhelming fatness, my suggestion to you is to go shopping and purchase clothes that are in your size that you feel fabulous in. These things exist, I promise you!! You will feel fantastic in your body when you have the right clothes for it.
And for the love of god, stop punishing yourself with burlap sacks and liquid diets.
And also, please post snail pictures.

Date: 2008-05-07 05:01 pm (UTC)Also, the only liquid diet you should be on involves vodka, Missy.
Look at me! I've got fatness down pat as well as style!

Date: 2008-05-08 12:30 am (UTC)Poor Vassilissa -- I'm so sorry to hear that. I remember when she was a tiny thing.
Also, I agree with the people who recommended buying some cute clothes in your size! It works like a charm to make you feel better, and you can still have you inimitable style in them! *g*
