aceofkittens: (bad mood)
Last night at around midnight, I had a massive allergic reaction to something and my right eye swelled almost completely shut (and I started hiving elsewhere). I immediately took Benadryl, sending myself on a very quick trip to "passed out land." This morning, while the swelling is better, it's still pretty bad. There's no way I can put in my contact lens and I don't have my new glasses yet (I lost my glasses a few weeks ago. Or perhaps the domovoy took them...). All I have is my old "Lisa Loeb" glasses and the protective coating on them has corrupted, so they're clouded over and I can barely see out of them, much less drive, work, etc.

If I wear an eye patch to work, everyone will make fun of me. That wouldn't bother me that much, except of course I can't find the eye patch either. Guhh...

YAY!

aceofkittens: (angry)
I was already annoyed and now, LJ ate my post, so I'm even more annoyed.

My post that got eaten was about how much I hate doctors. I always have. When I was a small child, I once threw an entire jigsaw puzzle-like game, and the board it came with, at a doctor. I still pretty much feel that way about the medical profession.

I had my first appointment today with my new doctor. I basically went in there for two reasons: to get birth control and to finally get allergy testing and discover what exactly is trying to stop me from breathing. The doctor barely spoke English and I had to repeat myself, again and again: "Allergy. Hives. No, not a food allergy. I'd like a referral. To an allergist. Al-ler-gy." Ten minutes later, I got bustled on out of there, feeling bewildered, with neither birth control nor an allergy test scheduled. Instead, I am being sent to some lab across town to get a full set of bloodwork drawn, just to make sure my cholesterol isn't too high or something. Uh... ok.

I've only had this doctor for a week, but I guess I'll be switching. Again.

ETA:In this version of the rant, I forgot to mention that she wrote me a prescription for an allergy medication that isn't covered by my insurance, that I wouldn't take anyway, because I'd like to know exactly WTF it is that I am allergic to, not chug pills every day to mask the problem.

After a yummy dinner with [livejournal.com profile] baogirl (and what a deal it was! I'll be eating the leftovers for the rest of the week), I've come home to collapse and stare at the walls for a while. I tried to shop for summer clothes, but kept gravitating to the nice, dark, winter clothes. Prices have gone up at the store where everything used to cost $9.99, and despite a few potential bargains, I resisted the siren call.

But, really, the best part of the evening was when I started to break out in hives. )

*sigh* And I miss my icons.
